SHORT COURSES

These one/two and three day courses led by invited specialist tutors are held in the holidays. 

 

SUMMER 2010 Short Courses

 

Tuesday 13th  July  10.30am – 3.30pm

WILLOW FOR THE GARDEN with NORAH KENNEDY. 

Come and spend an inspiring day creating your very own plant supports. 

Cost:  £46.00 + (approx. £15.00 for materials payable to Norah on the day). Maximum: 10 Students.

 

 Tuesday 13th , Wednesday 14th Thursday 15th July 9.30 am  – 3.30 pm

INTENSIVE THREE-DAY POTTERY THROWING WORKSHOP WITH SUE DREW

This intensive throwing course will offer 5 students a unique opportunity to spend three days on

their own wheel, receiving almost one-to-one tuition.  Suitable for beginners or more experienced potters.  

Cost:  £220.00  (To include all materials)  5 STUDENTS ONLY.

LANDSCAPE PAINTING IN WATERCOLOUR WITH ANTHONY WILDER
A day of watercolour painting for beginners or near beginners.  Cost:  £46.00.  Maximum:  10 Students.
 
Wednesday 14th July 10.00 am - 4.00 pm
DECORATED SKETCHBOOK WITH JANE POLLARD
Enjoy the day making a small sketchbook to use for drawings, sketches, photographs, notes or a journal. 
The day will explore working with papers, paints, printing, fabrics, threads and materials for decoration. 
Suitable for all abilities.   Cost: £50.00 to include all materials.  Maximum: 10 Students.
 
Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th, Friday 16th July 10 am – 4.00 pm
THE SICKERT NUDE – A THREE DAY COURSE WITH CLOVA STUART-HAMILTON
A nude/partially clothed model posed within an early 20th century garret/bedroom interior will evoke
the low-toned painterly interiors with female figures, from Walter Sickert’s middle period. 
Cost: £125.00 (including model fee) Maximum: 10 Students. 
This course is for the more experienced painter.
 
Thursday 15th July 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
JOURNEY THROUGH MIXED MEDIA WITH JO DIXON
A day exploring and experimenting with mixed media working with paint, print and collage techniques
to produce samples to develop or a personal image.  All levels of experience welcome. 
Cost:  £46.00 + (approx £8.00 for materials payable to Jo on the day).  Maximum 10 Students.

 

Monday 19th July 10.00 am – 4.00 pm 

PASTELS FOR BEGINNERS WITH JEAN PERROTT. 

Come and learn how to create the brilliance and vibrancy of Pastel.  Cost: £46.00

Maximum: 10 Students.

 

Monday 19th, Tuesday 20th July 10.00 am – 4.00 pm 

CREATING PAINTINGS FROM EXISTING IMAGES WITH PAT JEFFS.

A two day workshop exploring ways in which we can develop an existing image –

firstly from a photograph and then from a painting. 

Cost: £92.00.  Maximum: 10 Students.

On the day following the workshop there will be a group visit to the

Ashmolean Museum which is not a part of the course but is free to anyone wishing to attend.

 

Wednesday 21st July 10.00 am – 4.00 pm 

A ONE DAY COURSE WITH RON FREEBORN -

PAINTING FROM THE FIGURE with MODEL JULIE DAY

The day will consist of one pose – studying structure, form and brush techniques. 

For students with some experience.  Cost: £52.00 (including model fee).  Maximum: 14 Students.

 

Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd July 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

A TWO DAY PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH NEIL DRURY   -  SUMMER ROSES

A colourful and stimulating workshop.  Enjoy painting roses in all their different manifestations, from hedgerow

blossoms to lush floribundas and specimen roses ;  from posies to lush rococo bouquets.  

Participants (of any level) are encouraged to work in any medium of their choice.   

Cost:  £98.00.  Maximum:  10 Students.

 

Monday 26th,  Tuesday 27th , Wednesday 28th July 10.00am 4.00pm

AN EXCITING THREE DAY MOSAIC WORKSHOP WITH  EMMA CAVELL

Come and have fun exploring this amazing art form.   No experience needed. 

Cost:  £128.00 (plus approximately £10.00 for materials payable to Emma on the day).
