well as slightly more advanced students. Watercolour lends
itself well to various techniques and ways of applying colour onto
paper. Students are encouraged to produce a painting that is not too
inhibited. Still life, flowers etc as well as painting outdoors if
weather is suitable.

This course will provide the opportunity to explore various
approaches to painting and drawing. This will be achieved largely by
working in a variety of media directly from observation of objects
set up in the studio, but other source material—e.g. photographs,
basic design themes, working from imagination, etc. may also be used
as a means of creating images. Colour slides of paintings and
drawings will be used at intervals during the term to illustrate
aspects of the various topics encountered. This class is suitable
for those with some previous experience of painting and drawing.
